Sonic Story Reboot: Attempt #1

So, I'm going to keep this brief and to the point, but if anyone wants more details, I'll give more at request.

The reason I'm doing this is because I really enjoy the good stories in games. The adventure series was my first experience playing a sonic game and I loved them. The stories were captivating, well told, and interesting; something all 3D games past SA2 fail to do. So, I've been thinking of what they could have done with the story into of saying shadow was made from Alien DNA, and the rest of the garbage. This reminds me of the DBZ reboot that's taking place with the Battle of the Gods movie. Two-hundred more episodes are coming! Isn't that great?! I'm very excited. Anyway... time to get back to the topic at hand; Sonic.

Establishment of Sonic's Origins:

To help explain why Shadow and Sonic are both hedgehogs, equal in power, and why it is that a hedgehog is the Ultimate life form. Here goes.

From the Earth's creation and at every age of man, there has been a protector of the Earth who, from birth, was granted the power to protect it and its inhabitants from harm. There usual will only be one, as only one is needed; however, certain circumstances allow for more than one to exist at once, such in the case of SPOILER Shadow, and Chaos END SPOILER. This character would be born not only with great power, but with a .heroic and noble character. Sonic would be one of those great and noble protectors who inherited this will to stop evil from overtaking and destroying the Earth. This would explain why Sonic is always to eager to help those in need and save the day from Doctor Eggman. The Chaos Emerald, which could be have the original name of Emeralds of the protector, as well as the master emerald which governs the other seven, could be have been created for use of the protector, as they may be times his powers aren't good enough, and he needs more strength to protect the Earth and save the day. Simple concept, but it would add depth to the Sonic Universe.

Shadow would have originally been the protector of the Earth, as he inherited it's power at birth, but his hedgehog village is attacked and he is near death ( as his powers have not yet awaken) when Gerald Robotnik, who is searching for new species for his top secret gentic research, G.U.N. is having him do in a jungle near Shadow's village, finds him, and uses a controversial new cellular regeneration method he's been working on, to revive him, eager to test it out and also wishing to save the dying Hedgehog's life which leaves him altered to look as he does in the present.

The day after the experiment to revive Shadow, he awakes with his powers now activated. Shadow startled, confused, and unable to control himself goes on a rampage destroying everything is his wake. The havoc permanently alters the landscape, creating the Pumpkin hill type area. Dr. Robotnik, who had originally intended to show Shadow to G.U.N., decides to hide him in his A.R.K colony research lab, as he wants to prevent misuse of his power from happening which has proven to be capable of extreme destruction.

Gerald's granddaughter Maria, who takes an interest in her grandfathers' work, and as she has earned her grandfather's trust, is allowed to visit Shadow on the space colony ark, as much as she pleases. Dr. Robotnik hasn't told Maria about Shadow's rampage nor how potentially dangerous he can be because he secretly hopes her natural warmth and affection can help Shadow to control his powers. Upon seeing him, she gives Shadow his name due to his appearance and inability to remember anything from his past (great way to fore"shadow" hahaha, his memory problems in Sonic Adventure 2 battle and possibly Sonic Heros if I allow that to exist as a part of this reboot.) Maria visits him often and they become very close. As Shadow as not had any problems controlling himself, his plan seems to be working.

Completely fascinated by Shadow, Dr. Robotnik devotes all his time and effort into studying Shadow and performing tests on him. This is all kept from the knowledge of G.U.N as Dr. Robotnik is the only one with  access to the Space Colony Ark. After several months of no results from Gerald, who each time he was question insisted he was on the verge of a new discovery and he'd certainly be able to get it if he was only to receive more time, G.U.N. hacks into Gerald's computer file only to discover he's been secretly holding a being called shadow, and they witness footage of the destruction  by Shadow that Gerald managed to capture. Appauled by what they have discovered, G.U.N. immediately prepares to invade the Ark Colony, and take Gerald by surprise, to shut down his project.

As they arrive, Gerald is quickly apprehended by GUN soldiers and taken prisoner. The troops then, unaware of Maria's existence on the colony storm the room where is Shadow is being held, shooting heavy fire into the room as room as they enter killing Maria in the process, but not shadow due to a special launch tube Gerald had created in case this situation was to occur and to prevent GUN from taking Shadow for their use.

Gerald is locked for many years and due to this and the death of his granddaughter, whom he loved more than anyone else, he loses his sanity, and plots his escape and revenge on the GUN and, now insane, the Earth.  He never received a trial due to his work being a secret project for the government. He constantly tries to tell his story to the guards to prove he's innocent. Not only do they not believe him, but they laugh and make fun of him, having been lied to about what happened by their GUN superiors. One day decide to video tape "the wacky old coot"doctor,  going off on one of his "crazy tales" again. This time however, the Doctor now having lost his mind, doesn't try to prove his innocence, but swears revenge on the GUN and the plant. The GUN soldiers while stunned at first, quickly laugh it off, saying, "See, there he goes again, as crazy as ever." He spends ten years collecting and hiding what little technological resources he can find to construct a machine to enable his escape. In the middle of the night when the guards are the fewest, Robotnik makes his escape with his now finished, Robowalker. Before leaving he manages to grab the video the guards recorded intending for it to play right as his plan to destroy the earth and take his revenge unfolds.

He's on the run for several months, and having partially gained his insanity desides to pay a visit to his closest known relative, which happens to be a child Dr. Eggman, and his parents. He spends a few weeks at their home telling them he simply needed a place to stay while working on an project in the area. During this time he bonds with his grandson, Eggman. He decides by staying with his relatives any longer he's putting them at risk so he decides it's time for him to go, but before he leaves, he tells, young Eggman, " Don't trust people. You can only trust what the machines you create." This inspires Eggman to become an inventor and create lots, and LOTS, of robots. Seriously, his robots could probably fill 20 Disneyland parking lots!

Dr. Gerald Robotnik, manages to return to his transporter which allows him to return to the Space Colony Ark. It had been left untouched as Gerald had managed to lock his files and transporter on Earth, to get to the colony, from letting anyone but a Dr. Robotnik with the correct password of MARIA from using them. GUN, having captured Gerald, decided to leave the ARK, seeing it as non lethal, and they did not want to awaken public awareness to their project, by destroying it. Because Eggman is gentically and appearance wise similiar to his grandfather, he is able to travel to the ARK with his grandfather's transporter and use the computer in the ark. Upon  returning, all traces of Gerald's regained sanity are completely wiped out, as he witnesses the place where Maria died. He then begins to work towards his revenge. Using the computer, he discovers the location the cryogenic tube containing landed Shadow landed and retrieves it. He then reprograms Shadow to carry out his plan of destroy upon being released from his capsule. Should he fail, he also transforms the ark into a canon  capable of blowing up the earth if all chaos emeralds were collected. On top of this he programmed his old biolizard project to ensure the ark successfully crashed into the Earth if the other two methods didn't prove fruitful.

He is about to release Shadow, but he sees a picture of him and Maria and is immobilized. Now, manic and struggling between sanity and insanity, he doctor jeckel and mr hydes around the room until he falls into a spare cryogenic tube and is launched into space.

The events of SA2 occur with the alterations made her being added in, and now after sonic adventure 2. Shadow uses the majority of the energy from the chaos emerald that turn him and sonic super, to teleport o Sonic back onto the Ark, since he knows he has more reasons to live as Shadow, believes he's just an experiment and nothing more; however, there was still some energy left, and this allowed him to use chaos control to slow the fall of the space craft he was in thinking of Maria while doing such, if you please. I guess Sonic Heros is okay to be included in this retelling. It wouldn't ruin my purpose here like Shadow the Hedghog and beyond does. Shadow the Hedghog giving a terrible resolve to what happened after Sonic Adventure 2 is why I'm even doing this or thinking this. If it resolved the story in an acceptable way then I wouldn't be here doing this, but hey, I'm not complaining. I am enjoying this. In that way I'm sort of glad they their attempt was so terrible. It gives me a chance to re-create the story for them. Sonic Heros is more of a side quest than anything, so it wouldn't need to be exclude since it doesn't ruin my purposes here. It actually carries on the story quick well in some ways. This would be where Rouge finds him in Sonic heros and releases him from his tube craft thing.

So, that the story I'd made of Sonic and the Adventure series if I had the power to do such, but sadly, I don't ;(
